Our Lady of Guadalupe

History
Our Lady of Guadalupe was originally built in 1903 on the corner of Third and “D” Streets in old town Chino. The church is located walking distance from where Corinne’s great-grandparents, Gavino & Guadalupe Tapia, settled after immigrating to the United States from Curimeo, Michoacán. In 1947, Corinne’s grandparents, Raul & Mary Tapia settled nearby on 10th Street, where they raised their four children, who were all baptized at Our Lady, including her dad Danny.

In 1954, the original building was torn down to give way to a new church executed in part by highly skilled artisans from Mexico. Corinne’s great-uncle,  Leo “Nino” Avila, was integral in the building of the Church that is erected there today. A stain glass is located at the northwest corner depicting “Leo Avila & Family,” in which Corinne will be standing next to when she marries Jason.
